Mary Cassatt: Friends and Family
November 2008 – January 2009
Mary Cassatt: Friends and Family is a new exhibition exploring the
theme of friendship in Mary Cassatt’s art, and focuses in particular
on the artist’s relationships with artists and collectors including
Edgar Degas, Louisine Havemeyer, and Electra Havemeyer Webb. Organized by
the Shelburne Museum of Art, the exhibition will explore specific friendships
that influenced Cassatt’s career and illuminate how the subject of friendship
permeates the painter’s art.
French Women Artists, 1750-1850
Fall 2009
French Women Artists, 1750-1850, a groundbreaking exhibition scheduled
for fall 2009, will explore the rich collections of the Musée du Louvre,
Versailles, and Fontainebleau, as well as other important museums throughout
France. The featured paintings, prints, and sculpture present an extraordinary
opportunity to examine the strides women artists made in France from the period
1750 to 1848.
