The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) celebrates its 25th Anniversary with a broad range of signature exhibitions, events and programs. On April 7, 1987, the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) opened its doors to the public to honor women artists of the past, promote the accomplishments of women artists of the present, and assure the place of women artists in the future. Twenty-five years later, the museum remains the only museum in the world solely dedicated to this mission. -

In keeping with its mission to rediscover and celebrate women artists of the past and demonstrate their continued relevance, the National Museum of Women in Arts (NMWA) presents Royalists to Romantics: Women Artists from the Louvre, Versailles, and Other French National Collections. -
Artist Chakaia Booker Selected for Second Installation of the New York Avenue Sculpture Project
Internationally renowned sculptor Chakaia Booker has been selected as the second artist for the New York Avenue Sculpture Project, the only public art space featuring changing installations of contemporary works by women artists. Organized by the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA), the New York Avenue Sculpture Project is a collaboration between the museum, the Downtown DC Business Improvement District (BID), the DC Office of Planning and other local agencies. -
The Guerrilla Girls Talk Back: Exhibited by the National Museum of Women in the Arts

Pressing Ideas: Fifty Years of Women's Lithographs from Tamarind: Exhibited by the National Museum of Women in the Arts
Pressing Ideas: Fifty Years of Women's Lithographs from Tamarind brings together extraordinary works of art by women who, over the past 50 years, have helped re-energize and re-organize the artistic medium of lithography. Featuring 75 original prints by 42 artists, Pressing Ideas celebrates the diversity, innovation and collaborative nature of lithography. The exhibition is on view at the National Museum of Women in the Arts June 17, 2011, through October 2, 2011.
