The exhibition coincides with the 7th Movable Book Society Conference in Washington, D.C., September 18-20, 2008. On Friday, September 19, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. a session on artists' books is scheduled at NMWA, chaired by Krystyna Wasserman, curator of Book Arts. The members of the Society wish to hear about our collection of artists' books and see some example of works with movable parts (pop-ups, fold-outs, fan books, Venetian blind structures, etc.) We will be presenting about 24 artists' books with movable, three-dimensional elements in the Library and Research Center. The Queen of Pop-Ups, Carol Barton, a Washington area artist, will be represented by her early work Loom. Other well-known artists include Debra Weier, Lois Morrison, and Jan Owen.

The funding for the exhibition is provided by the Margaret M. Johnston.

This exhibition is open to the public Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
