Ukrainian-born pianist Valentina Lisitsa began honing her musical talents at the young age of three and performed her first solo recital just one year later. Following her studies at the Kiev Conservatory, she won the 1991 Murray Dranoff Two Piano Competition with partner Alexei Kuznetsoff and successfully launched a career in the United States. Since her American orchestral debut at the Mostly Mozart Festival at New York's Lincoln Center, the pianist has received rave reviews. Commended by the Chicago Sun-Times for her "staggering technique and virtuosic panache that can surmount nearly all challenges," Lisitsa is known throughout the world for her vast repertoire and distinctive musical approach. As a solo pianist, she has performed in some of the world's most prestigious venues, including New York's Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall, Vienna's Musikverein, and Amsterdam's Concertgebouw. Lisitsa has also performed throughout the world with celebrated orchestras including the São Paulo Symphony, the New Zealand Philharmonic, and the Prague Chamber Orchestra, as well as with prominent musicians such as cellist Lynn Harrell and violinists Ida Haendel and Hilary Hahn. To share her passion and talent with a wider audience, this Bösendorfer artist regularly records for Audiofon Record Company.
