The National Museum of Women in the Arts will begin its 25th anniversary celebration on Friday, February 3, 2012 with An Evening in Monte-Carlo. Under the auspices of the Embassy of the Principality of Monaco, the event will include cocktails, a silent auction, dinner, and dancing.

Women on Stage: a Conversation about Susanna Centlivre

A celebrity of the early 18th century with a hit on the London stage almost every year, Susanna Centlivre was the author of 19 plays and numerous poems—some pointedly political. Eleanor Holdridge, co-founder of Red Heel Theatre, which specialized in Restoration comedy, now head of the MFA Directing program at Catholic University, will discuss Centlivre's theatrical legacy with Dr. Georgianna Ziegler, Folger Shakespeare Library's head of reference and curator of its exhibition Shakespeare's Sisters: Voices of English and European Women Writers, 1500–1700.
